Behold, you trust in deceptive words to no avail. Will you steal, murder, commit adultery, swear falsely, make offerings to Baal, and go after other gods that you have not known, and then come and stand before me in this house, which is called by my name and say “We are delivered!” – Only to go on doing all these abominations?
I am watching our nation fall for anything. We don’t really stand for anything anymore, it’s all talk but no real action. We have over 96% of the nation declaring themselves as Christians – which the definition of which is not a religious belief, but a personal relationship to Christ with a promise to obey His command of proclaiming the Good News of the Gospel to the world. (Matthew 28:19). And of course, not all of this 96% is committed to doing so… whatsoever. Yet, that is the command of being a Christian and accepting that “call” on your life.
The Bible gives us much illustration – it refers to the Christian life as a military post, as an athlete running a race to win and so it goes that many of our “wannabe” Christians might sit in church each Sunday or one that I hear from some is “I worship at home,” or “In my own way…” but that is NOT Biblical and comes with severe consequences:
Because you have done all these things, declares the Lord, and when I spoke to you persistently you did not listen, and when I called you, you did not answer, therefore I will do to the house that I called by my name, and in which you trust… and cast you out of my sight.
The “house that I called by my name, and in which you trust.” Is not only the church you attend, but it is also the body in which you dwell –
“Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that god’s Spirit dwells in you?… for God’s temple is holy and you are that temple.”(1 Cor. 3:16-17) and again in 19-10:
“Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.” God is very serious about “Do not take the Name of The Lord your God in Vain.” (Ex. 20:7)… “For the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.”
When you call yourself a “Christian” you are putting the name of Christ – God’s triune Son on yourself – it is a uniform, a way of life, a promise – and a promise to the Almighty is NOT one that He takes lightly and one that has some very serious consequences when not followed by His rules.
“Therefore, thus my anger and my wrath will be poured out on this place… it will burn and not be quenched.”
The Lord has given us 66 books that all contain basically the same message: He is the Great I Am and we are here to take that message to the world and to give Him all praise, honor and glory in everything we do.”
All we are required to do is to love Him. And we demonstrate that love by being obedient to His commands which Jesus says are simplified into two simple things: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind… and love your neighbor as yourself.” (Matt. 22:37-40).
But you say, “I don’t believe that way…” Here’s the deal – it doesn’t matter what you believe – the Bible states over and over that a man’s heart is deceitful, that we might trust in the way that we walk… but in the end it leads to death. That is why we needed the “manual” to be written – God didn’t inspire these men just to give us something else to argue about… He gave it to us as a guide, a training manual, a Love Letter!
I love you my friends – even my family, including my sisters, parents and my son – all those whom God has put in my life that call themselves Christians but are NOT – the last thing I want is to see you be cast into hell.
I know you don’t believe it will happen… but since I know truth and you don’t…
“When Jesus had said these things, He departed and hid himself from them. Though He had done so many signs before them, they still did not believe in him…” (John 12:36-37).
It’s like this: You are hiking down a path calling yourself a “hiker” but you know nothing about the trail, the pitfalls, the animals, the dangers…. But you “believe” you can do it…you “believe” that your way is right…
You can sit in church every Sunday, You can “worship at home.” You can don the “Christian” uniform and call yourself anything you want – but you will pay a very hard price –
God says this: “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked.” (Gal. 6:7).
Taking the Lord’s name in vain is not just cursing His holy name – it is professing to be one of His when you are NOT! He doesn’t like it! It does not reflect well on Him and He will not put up with it for long!
And He tells us over and over and over again:
“But this command I gave them: “Obey my voice and I will be your God, and you shall be my people. And walk in all the way that I command you, that it may be well with you.” But they did not obey or inclin
e their ear, but walked in their own counsels and the stubbornness of their evil hearts, and went backward and not forward… I have persistently sent all my servants the prophets to them, day after day,. Yet they did not listen to me or incline their ear, but stiffened their neck.”
This is the nation that did not obey the voice of the Lord their God and did not accept discipline; truth has perished; it is cut off from their lips….
The land shall become a waste.”
Do not use the name of my Lord God in vain, I will no longer stand for it!
