Holly T. Ashley

Oh did I type that outloud?

What is R3 and What do you do?

RedemptionIt’s Domestic Violence Awareness Month – the Month where most of our Domestic Violence funding is acquired through education, awareness and frankly – solicitation.

With Billions of dollars being raised throughout the year – only about 9% is given to those “down and dirty,” in the trenches, organizations like ours.

Most of the money raised is to fund the Arts – a worthy cause (frankly, I’d like to see more music teachers and instruments in schools than millionaires going to sip champagne and show off their latest designer dress)… but what do I know?

I do know this – fancy parties reserved for the rich and famous do little to help the 1 in 4 women seeking to find refuge for themselves and their children, let alone the 1 in 7 men recovering from sexual assault and violence.

Did you know we have between 4 and 12 MILLION animal shelters in the US and only 15 HUNDRED Domestic Violence shelters? (none of them are for men, by the way).

Did you know that somewhere between 9,000 and 12,000 women will go without services next year? But I won’t bore you with the statistics like children raised in a domestic violence home are 1500 times more likely to be abused or become abusers themselves… I’ll just answer your frequently asked (implied) questions in hopes that you will help us help them.

I am the founder. My name is Holly T. Ashley and I am a thirty-year outspoken veteran of the Domestic Violence field – Beginning my career as a victim.

R3 was founded because:

  1. Jesus is the only solution to this crisis.
  2. The church needs to step up. They want to – they just don’t have the resources – or the training.
  3. After 30 years nothing has changed. Its only gotten worse.
  4. The churches needed resources especially training in the judicial processes.
  5. There were no Christ-centered Domestic Violence programs for both the victim and the offender.
  6. Victims and Offenders need life-long resources in relationships found in Jesus and His church of disciples in order to become disciple makers.
  7. The model of marriage was designed by God and is the model of His relationship to His church.

What we do:

  1. We offer DV training for lay-counselors and court advocates. We help Christian ministries and churches facilitate Domestic Violence classes at their location by providing them with training in domestic violence judicial processes, biblical counseling, and a Christ-centered curriculum as well as providing them with the opportunity to join our National network of ongoing support services such as legal assistance, attorneys, liability insurance, shelter services as well as ongoing training.

The Primary goal of Redemption. Restoration. Recovery. (R3) Domestic Violence Services is to equip the church and set up Redemption Domestic Violence Centers on every church in every city across the United States.

  1. The R3 Curriculum meets the criteria for court-mandated victims and offenders and referrals are abundant – the future of the family and marriage is in the power of Jesus working through His Saints in His church.

Our Domestic Violence Class curriculum is being taught throughout Arizona and has helped numerous women across the valley in receiving counseling, support groups, shelter services, court advocacy as well as attorney services.

How you can help:

  1. Get trained – Complete our comprehensive 40-hour training and Join the R3 National Network of Christian Domestic Violence Service providers.
  2. Become an R3 Domestic Violence class provider. By completing the R3 Training and joining our National Network, you will also receive the curriculum to teach as well as the student workbook.
  3. Host an R3 Domestic Violence workshop at your church, women’s group or ministry location.
  4. Book a speaker to educate and inform you ministry, group or church on the epidemic of Domestic Violence.
  5. Volunteer your Spiritual Gifts. Our organization is always in need of a talent such as yourself. Whether business administration, office administration or marketing & P/R, the list is endless!
  6. GIVE. The costs to combat domestic violence is a staggering as the epidemic itself.
  7. Commit to becoming a partner. We need financially invested corporate partners who will team up with us in an on-going capacity and will help us to promote, train, educate and present the effects of domestic violence and the biblical solution.

I know that it seems that grants are abundant. But our current political administration has set the national temperature for Christian ministries at an all-time low. Although we never discriminate- Our government does. So let us make this abundantly clear – Abuse is NEVER okay – no matter what lifestyle one may live –

But, we will not compromise, change, or misrepresent the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

This means that if you attend our classes, receive counseling or a court advocate – you will hear about Jesus, we will pray for you, and we will invite you to fellowship in our congregation (or one near you).

Because of this, we have been excluded from financial assistance – this includes the money raised by corporations and given to the national coalitions for distribution– where we, incidentally, have been consistently excluded from participation as speakers in their conferences, workshops and various community speaking opportunities.

It’s time for a Christian Resolution and We need you.
