Transgender Meets Jesus = Regret
Bruce Jenner is only one of many, many confused and distraught people who God has “Turned over to a debased mind,” (Romans 1). And I think God does it for a few reasons, but two are because that he says He will do if you continue to deny Him…. But the other reason is to challenge the church to love them through it.
Granted, they can’t stay there But when we as a church can reach out and exhort, esteem and …. wait for it.. REBUKE using scripture and then pray for them – The Word of God is “For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” (Heb. 4:12).
But if we do not speak truth, if we do not “pull out our swords,” Then we are not being obedient to the call of Christ to “Teach all that I have commanded,” says Jesus. He tells us to use the Scripture, this scripture that is “Alive” with “integrity, dignity, sound speech that cannot be condemned, so that an opponent may be put to shame, having nothing evil to say about us…” (Which they will anyway, but not because of truth… Unless you are indigent).
Titus 2 goes on to remind us that we are to teach, exhort and rebuke because “The grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men, instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously and godly.” (Titus 2 – just read the chapter so you get the context).
Look, here’s the deal – The riots, the homosexuality, the transsexual/gender, abortion… All of these things are made up of misplaced anger, a whole lot of pride, and greed for the attention of men (meaning humanity), all commandments are broken by these decisions, it’s not just about the “act” it is about God’s command to love Him above all else.
But don’t overlook the lies, adultery, idol worship of a god that they have created in their own minds, vanity, dishonor to their parents, their families and most of all their Creator and their Savior, the coveting of the hope they so want but cannot possibly achieve living in the sin which has consumed them.
It needs to hurt your heart, to the point that you open your mouth – Because the scripture goes on to say: “These things speak and exhort and reprove with all authority. Let no one disregard you.”
So just do it. Just get your voice out there and lets speak truth and life- by being the salt and the light.
