Holly T. Ashley

Oh did I type that outloud?

You declare: “Peace! Peace!”  I declare: You are a coward and unfit for service. Stand down, little man.

“Then David said to the Philistine (Goliath), you come to me with a sword, a spear, and a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.”

God does not tolerate sin. God does not tolerate people who mock Him or His chosen. The difference now is that most of today’s churches would stand on the sidelines with Saul. Too fearful of the loss of their “kind” reputation, their status in the community, the hearers of the truth: congregation, friends, family, employer, employees, etc.

“Woe to you, when all people speak well of you, for so their fathers did to the false prophets” (Lk 6:26).

But, more than the stellar reputation and fear of men… I believe it is because the gospel has been so distorted at the pulpit, that these false converts, don’t know how to defend themselves against the barrage of false doctrine that is out there and is about to be spewed against them– and therefore, they fear that they cannot defend themselves – let alone dare to defend the “army of the living God,” (the bride of Christ – the church) – Because they do not know what the Word of God actually says.

So, they retreat.

They say unholy, irreverent, unbiblical things like: “Love the sinner, hate the sin…” “Don’t judge…” “Love is patient. Love is kind….”

Right out of Satan’s playbook.

They believe – they just don’t know what (and/or Whom) they believe – or why they believe it – and you can’t defend what you don’t know – or Whom you do not understand.

Love is God. God is love. (1 Jn 4:16).

Therefore, “God is patient. God is kind.”

But God is just. God is a God of war:

“From his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and he will rule them with a rod of iron. He will tread the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty.  On his robe and on his thigh, He has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords” (Rev. 19:15).

Just who do you think God’s sending Jesus to destroy anyway?

If you do not wish to be among the destroyed and dead, I suggest you get in the game and quit being such a sissy.

God’s no sissy.

Neither are the men He has chosen to represent Him and defend His glory:

2 Sam. 17: 45-47 depicts the battle of the Israelites (Jesus now refers to Israel as the church) – against the Philistines. Saul’s group of cowards are standing on the sidelines – probably in “prayer” over what to do…

Then along comes a man after God’s own heart. A man who truly depicts what a Shepherd of God should look like.

And guess what: He didn’t tell Goliath that he loved him… or even that God loved him…

Rather, this is what he said:

“This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you down, and cut off your head and give the dead bodies of the host (all y’all – colossal idiots, who dare defy God and His army a/k/a: the Philistines), this day to the birds of the air and to the wild beasts of the earth…”

(Not being honored with a proper burial and tomb, was a disgrace considered worse than death itself)…

“that the earth may know that there is a God in Israel (the church) and that all this assembly (all the rest of these cowards who call themselves “the Lord’s army,”  might possibly understand) that the Lord saves not with a sword and spear; For the battle is the Lords and He will give you into our hands.”

Much like the army of Saul, God’s army today is full of cowards. They talk the talk, but they can’t walk the walk – much less “run the race to win” (1 Cor. 9:24).

They have the tools (the sword of the Spirit) – they even have the armor required for battle (the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness) – But what they are missing is the readiness given by the gospel of peace.

There is no readiness.

There isn’t even any support for those with readiness!

As you read this, shake your head, “Yes! Yes! Holly! I know, right??!!”

Let me be clear, I’m talking about you.

Some of you just misinterpreted the biblical meaning behind the word: Peace.

You consistently misinterpret and worse, misrepresent both the Greek and the Hebrew word for peace – I know, because I see it in your posts, your re-posts, and your use of “peaceful” vernacular.

There are very few who understand that the command to “be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might” (Eph 6:10), is so that you are ready to go to battle – not just stand on the sidelines and spew out-of-context Scripture – and hope that God will forgive you for your lack of obedience to “rightly handle the Word of truth” (2 Tim 2:15).

“God will not be mocked” (Gal. 6:7).

God will defend His own honor – That is not even in question. He shares His glory with no one (Is. 42:8).

What is in question is – will you be man enough to be the vessel He chooses to use?

When Goliath drew near to David – David RAN TOWARDS Goliath… (2 Sam. 17:48).

Why? Because Goliath “defied the army of God – and nobody defies God’s glory!

“Everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory…” (Is. 43:7).

That means the bride of Christ… the church!

Many of you say that you will take a stand – but do you really?

No. The answer is no. Most of you, do not… Okay, you might stand, but it will be behind someone – or over on the sidelines.

You shrink behind someone who is truly dressed in the whole armor of God – so that you have the “appearance of godliness…”

But when the heat comes – you are nowhere to be found (“denying it’s power” 2 Tim. 3:5).

We know, because we’ve looked for you and you were no where to be found.

You only have the courage to like our memes on social media – well, that is if you have a protected page that only “friends” can view…

Some of you make certain to post your daily dose of “encouraging words,” careful not to offend – and then sit back and let everyone bask in your kind, gentle soul…

Bless your sweet, little heart.

But when someone offends you – you come running’ and you dare stand behind the real soldiers as you shout, “Yeah! What they said!”

And then shrink back into your little bubble when the bullets start flying? (The covert head nod when we walk into the room)

If not full-on retreat mode! (The oh not-so-subtle “look” right past us as you search for some invisible person standing behind us…).

I know you go somewhere because you indeed disappear when we need you to “hold up our arms” in the midst of the battle.

Oh, where are the Aarons and the Hurs’?

Yeah, we see you… hiding… because, I know, “Jesus’ has got this!”

Let me let you in on a secret I learned in my investigation training… If you want to know what people really think of you – Watch the reaction of their employees when you are introduced – even better, look at the reaction of your so-called friend’s children when they meet you or see you!

That’s why we interview friends and families of those we are investigating – and we do it in person – because it is foolproof.

You know what else – It’s biblical.

The children of God know who the enemies of their fathers are – and will proceed accordingly – and obediently.

Children hear what is said in their “home.”

Where is your “home?”

Is it a den of thieves or at the holy throne of the living God?

We see you. God sees you.

You talk the talk and make the public declaration of “faith,” when you’re in your safe space, that is…

But, when someone challenges you, calls you names, threatens your status, or what you perceive to be your reputation in the community you “serve…” you are so quick to declare “tolerance! Peace and love for all…”

And the fact is – You do serve your community. You do serve your position. You serve your church (brick and mortar, that is).

Whom you do not serve – is the Holy God of the Bible…

If you did serve the God of the Bible. Then you would know Whom you serve and you would certainly seek wisdom and understanding of just Who He is.

So, let’s just begin with the word “peace.”

PEACE (שָׁלוֹם, shalom; εἰρήνη, eirēnē). A pervasive concept in the Bible that most commonly relates to a relationship of love and loyalty with God and one another.

Your pursuit of “peace” begins with your love and loyalty to the holy God of the Universe. His commands, His glory – and your loyalty to Him and Him alone. First, and foremost, beyond anything and everyONE else.

Without fellowship with Him, there is not a chance of peace – for anyone. Including those deliberately sinning enemies of God… Those same enemies of God, that you desire to have “peace” with.

“You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore, whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God” (Js 4:4).

The biblical meaning behind the Word of God’s use of the word peace is only achieved when and where there is deliverance from the bondage and penalty of sin.

Without repentance of sin, we are enemies of the holy God of the Bible (Rom. 5:1).

If you want peace with others – then they must hear you tell them of the gospel of Jesus Christ – their only chance of peaceful living because repentance is the only way they will have peace in their conscience (Heb. 10:22).

The biblical word for peace is only found in the gift of God through Jesus Christ (2 Thess. 3:16).

The biblical word for peace is a blessing of great value (Ps. 119:165).

And it is the perfected term (Isa. 26:3). Inexpressible (cannot be understood by the world) (Phil. 4:7).

And it does not change or go away. It is permanent (John 14:27; 16:22) and eternal (Heb. 4:9).

The bottom line is this: If you desire peace with the world – yet you are too fearful or ignorant of the Scriptures to share the doctrine of repentance, and you chose to cower down at their open mocking of God’s army, in the pursuit of the unbiblical definition of “peace” by openly and publicly declaring your “love” for them (even though they are enemies of God) –

“Your blood will be required of them” (Ez 33:6).

“If I say (that would be God)… “If I say to the wicked, ‘You shall surely die,” and you (that would be anyone who carries the banner of Christ and calls themselves Christians), “and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, in order to safe his life, that wicked person shall die for his iniquity, but his blood I will require at your hand.”

We have been commanded to pursue peace. Biblical peace – that is, our loyalty and love for God first – with the declaration of the Way, the Truth, and the Life to “Rebuke and restore,” (2 Tim 3:16) and keep the bride of Christ “holy, without spot or blemish” (Eph 5:27).

FACT: There are those people who are “vessels of destruction”(Rom. 9:22), and others, because they refuse to acknowledge God, the Bible declares “deserve to die” (Rom. 1:32).

That’s just how it is because that is how holy God is.

Sinners must repent! Or the sinner (not the sin) will be cast into hell for all eternity.

“Even now the axe is laid to the root of the trees. Every tree, therefore, that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire” (Lk 3:9).

You might love the sinner and hate the sin – God hates both.

“The boastful shall not stand before your eyes; you hate all evildoers” (Ps. 5:5).

So chose this day Whom you will serve. (Joshua 24:15).

For, if these, that you so desire to have “peace” with, refuse to respect the Holy God of the universe and continue to mock, make policies that defy, or demand that we bow down to their “Baal…” (homosexual relationships/marriage, trans-whatever, murder of their child, mutilation of their child, greed, fornication, slander of God and His Word – that they know but deny Rom. 1:28)…

And if you are too scared to openly declare their violation of the holy God of the universe and that you will not tolerate their mocking of God and His army – let alone be man enough to put the stone in your sling…

Then you are not worthy to carry the banner of Christ.

You do not have a fear of the Lord before your eyes.

Either man up – or shut up, little boy.
